Doota-san Mountain

The name of Dootasan originated from the myth of Dangun. Dangun had Paengwoo rule the mountains and streams. However, it rained every day and all the mountains and streams were submerged under water. So, he had to evacuate to the highland. Afterwards, Paengwoo stayed in Dootasan and the small part of the peak remained like an island. So, the mountain came to be called Dootasan.

If you leave Yeongsuam and climb the mountain along the trail to the east for about an hour and thirty minutes, you will reach the top of the mountain. The old site of the Doota mountain fortress that was built during the Three Kingdoms period greets visitors near the peak.

    The entrance restrictions into Manraesan and Doota-san have been cancelled for your convenience. However, please understand the forest fire guards will prevent you from entering the mountains if you are carrying inflammables. Please be careful not to cause forest fires.

    • 2 Please use direct buses from Cheongju to Jincheon (Takes 0:50 minutes) Buses are available at an interval of ten minutes
    • 3 Please use direct buses from Jincheon to Yongjeong-ri (Chopyeong-myeon) (Takes 0:10 minutes) Buses runs 6 times per day.
