    Jincheon Bell Museum

    The Jincheon Bell Museum was opened on September 2005 to inform people of the excellent Korean bells and their great artistic value that received recognition from the world through various activities including planning exhibitions and education as well as studying, collecting, exhibiting, and preserving them.

    Gilsangsa Shrine in Jincheon

    Gilsangsa Shrine in Jincheon is the shrine that enshrined a portrait of Kim Yushin, King Heungmu the Great, who completed the great achievement of the unification of three nations in Dodangsan Mountain in Jincheon. According to Sejongsilrokjiriji, the shrine was first built under the Taeryeong-san Mountain where General Kim Yushin’s taesil was buried and a national memorial service was held during the Shilla period. Later, in the 8th year of the reign of King Taejong of Joseon, a local service was held every year.

    Birthplace of General Kim Yushin and in Jincheon

    Kim Yushin, King Hongmu the Great (595 to 673), was born in this place. He is the 13th son of King Kim Suro, the progenitor of Garak-guk. General Kim Yushin was born in Gyeyang Villag, Sanggye-ri, Jincheon-eup in the 17th year of the reign of King Jinpyeong(595) as a son of General Kim Seohyeon (金舒玄), the governor-general of Manno-gun (萬弩郡 太守, Manno : The old name of Jincheon).

    Botapsa Temple

    Sanggye-ri and Yeongok-ri of Jincheon-eup used to be the borderland between Shilla and Goguryeo kingdoms during the Three Kingdoms period. The birthplace of General Kim Yushin is located in Gyeyang village of Sanggye-ri. Taeryeong mountain fortress and Manrae mountain fortress are located in Manrae Mountain. Found nearby was an ancient tombstone monument (Baekbi, Treasure No. 404), which is believed to have been built in the early period of Goryeo Dynasty (918 – 1392) in the Yeongok-ri area. Baekbi was restored and preserved in the pavilion of Botapsa. There is also a three-story stone pagoda there.

    Shrine of Jeong Song-gang in Jincheon

    Shrine of Jeong Song-gang in Jincheon is the local monument No. 9 as the shrine that a tablet of Songgang Jeongcheol was set up. Jeongcheol was the first vice-premier as the politician in the Joseon Dynasty. He was a secret royal inspector in Hamgyeong-do after becoming Jipyeong as he won the first place in state examinations (Jinsa and Byeolsimnugwan) in the 16th year of the reign of King Myeongjong as a writer with Kim Inhu. And he received special favors of Sagadokseo with Yulgok.

    Jincheon Nongdari bridge

    This beautiful stone bridge (石橋) called 'Nonggyo Bridge' as the bridge on Saegeumcheon in front of Gulti Village, Gugok-ri, Munbaek-myeon. According to the record of 『Sangsanji(常山誌)』(1932), General Lim built it in the early Goryeo Dynasty. Originally, it was made of 28 stones by applying 28 signs(宿).

    Birthplace of Yi Sang-seol in Jincheon

    This is the birthplace of the great scholar Yi Sangseol (1870~1917) which consists of a main building and a shed as the wooden thatched house. Yi Sangseol was born the son of Yi Hanewoo, a scholar, and passed the civil service examination in 1894. He served as a teacher at Sunggyunkwan University and an instructor at Hanseong College of Education. He spoke 7 languages including English and French and was a keen student of modern literature.

    Jincheon Baeti Sanctuary

    Located below Nogosan Mountain in Yangbaek-ri, Baekgok-myeon in Jincheon-gun, Jincheon Baeti Sanctuary has been used as a place for paying a tribute to the faith of a number of martyrs and is a place of prayer and meditation. There are two stories why it was called Baeti. One story explains that it was called Ichi - the pear hill - because there were lots of pears at the entrance of the village. So, it was called Beati in Korean. Another story explains that when Yi Injioa rebelled, he was defeated by villagers that was led by Yi Sungon, an elderly resident of the village as he was passing through Baekgok. He was defeated again by the royal forces led by Oh Myeonghwang on his way to Anseong.
