Jincheon fresh fish are concentrated in Jukhyeon-ri, Gwanghyewon-myeon, but in fact fresh fish are intensively farmed in Gwanghyewon-myeon and Iwol-myeon. In addition, there is a fish farm in Chopyeong-myeon. Called Arongi, Jincheon fresh fish is famous in the world partially because Mr. Bang Yaksu succeeded in crossbreeding techniques to produce high-quality fish after years of research and development in Gwanghyeowon-myeon of Jincheon-gun.

    • Since 300 colored carps were exported to the United States in 1992 for the first time, roughly a total of 116,000 fresh fish have been exported to many countries including the United States, England, Japan, Singapore, China and Canada as of 2005, which amounts to 3.2 billion KRW. The famous breeds of Jincheon fresh fish include “Sowha samsaek” and “Daejeong samsa.” There is a fresh fish auction facility in Jukhyeon-ri of Gwanghye-won that has an auction house, a warehouse, an office and a hatchery.
    • Jincheon organizes a fresh fish show once a year and participates in specialty products exhibitions that are organized by Chungcheongbuk-do provincial government, which always attract the attention of fresh fish lovers.
