Since 300 colored carps were exported to the United States in 1992 for the first time, roughly a total of 116,000 fresh fish have been exported to many countries including the United States, England, Japan, Singapore, China and Canada as of 2005, which amounts to 3.2 billion KRW. The famous breeds of Jincheon fresh fish include “Sowha samsaek” and “Daejeong samsa.” There is a fresh fish auction facility in Jukhyeon-ri of Gwanghye-won that has an auction house, a warehouse, an office and a hatchery.
Jincheon organizes a fresh fish show once a year and participates in specialty products exhibitions that are organized by Chungcheongbuk-do provincial government, which always attract the attention of fresh fish lovers.
